"My mentor was a wise man and he told me a long time ago that it was mandatory to take at least a two week vacation once a year if not more (if possible). Not only was he wise, but he was also very successful. I thought, at the time, that this was terribly arrogant after all, I would feel irresponsible taking off two weeks all at one time. I'm from hard working stock and we don't take vacations or much time off! Well, as it turns out he's right about just about everything. He said 'when you take the vacation, you have to disconnect from the hustle, bustle, and demands of work and life and relax'. This allows you to 'sharpen the saw' he said, and 'come back refreshed with renewed enthusiasm, adrenaline, etc.'."
Disconnecting is very difficult in a "connected" world but as he stressed, it's so important. We want "disconnecting" to be a goal for you on our adventures, so please make arrangements to do so. Some venues and longer range adventures will have difficult cell service. ATT is about the best in the most remote locations, Verizon is just about the worst. In such locations, if we anticipate problems, we will have a SAT phone for emergencies.
